LEWISTON – Pine Tree Legal Assistance offices in Lewiston and five other sites will be closed to new client intake from May 31 through June 3.
In early May, Pine Tree had more than 1,900 open cases of low-income Mainers allocated among 20.6 full-time-equivalent staff attorneys statewide.
In order to provide high quality work to those clients whose cases have already been accepted and to complete the necessary administrative work for funders, offices in Lewiston, Portland, Augusta, Bangor, Machias and Presque Isle will close next week.
This administrative week also affects statewide units serving migrant farm workers, Native Americans and Kids Legal Aid of Maine.
