FARMINGTON – The Farmington Police Department is teaming up with 10,000 law enforcement agencies across the country during the national “Click It or Ticket” Project to pay special attention to those least likely to buckle up and more likely to die unbuckled in a crash, including pickup truck occupants.

Nationwide, more than 80 percent of American drivers and passengers use their safety belts.

The national two-week enforcement wave, which runs from May 23 to June 5, is based on a proven public health model to increase belt use called “high visibility enforcement.”

The Farmington Police Department will conduct saturation patrols during the same time frame.
