PELHAM, N.H. (AP) – Two Massachusetts men stopped in a “Click it or ticket” seat belt campaign ended up hearing the sound of handcuffs.
Police said officers on a special seat belt enforcement patrol stopped a car Monday night when they saw a driver who appeared to be under 18 not wearing a seat belt.
While talking to the driver and two passengers, police said they smelled marijuana. After a passenger was arrested on marijuana charges, police searched the car and reported finding 101 Oxycontin tablets and more than $4,000 in cash. The driver, Jason Estrela, 19, of Somerville, Mass., was charged with possession of Oxycontin, and possession with intent to distribute the painkiller.

NASHUA, N.H. (AP) – A retired high school teacher is suing the school district, charging she was shut out of jobs she wanted because of her age.
Patricia Murdy, 56, of Manchester, a former Nashua High School North business teacher, argues the district assigned her to health and computer classes while younger, less experienced teachers were given the accounting courses she desired.
School Board President Kim Shaw would not comment on the details, but said the district and board will defend themselves.
