PORTLAND – The first annual Miss Maine’s Outstanding Teen Pageant will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 12, at the Eastland Park Hotel.

The new pageant provides an opportunity for young women to enhance personal growth and develop leadership and communication skills. The pageant has been established as a scholarship competition venue for teens as well as a fund-raising event for the Miss Maine America Pageant.

The pageant is open to those between the ages of 13 and 17 (excluding high school seniors) who reside or go to school in Maine.

Prize package for the winner consists of round-trip airfare and expenses to the national pageant in Orlando, Fla., in August; $2,000 Series EE savings bond; official crown and banner; official scepter and flowers; $500 gift certificate for wardrobe; jewelry and accessories; beauty consultation and hair and nail care and official queen’s portrait.
