FARMINGTON – SAD 9 directors voted Tuesday to readmit a middle school student to school. The board also voted to restructure the athletic director/athletic coordinator’s job description at the high school, Superintendent Michael Cormier said Wednesday.
The Mt. Blue Middle School student was expelled from school for behavior reasons and now lives in another town, Superintendent Michael Cormier said Wednesday.
The student had to seek permission from the school he was expelled from to be readmitted before he could enroll in another school system.
Incoming Mt. Blue High School Principal Joe Moore recommended the change in the athletic director/coordinator’s position.
The major change to the position involves supervision of some clerical work and the position’s not having responsibility as an assistant principal, Cormier said.
While the current position requires a principal’s certificate, the restructured position would require a bachelor’s degree with appropriate certification, Cormier said.
The work year would be 215 days with a flexible schedule, Cormier said.
The current athletic director, Bonnie Levesque, is leaving SAD 9 at the end of the year to become principal of Madison Junior High School. She makes about $55,000 in SAD 9 in her position.
The salary range for the restructured athletic director/coordinator’s position is in the $40,000 range. Some of the $15,000 salary difference would be used to hire a secretary for four or five hours a day.
