LISBON – A 30-year-old Oakland man, Darin Beaulieu, who was hurt in a single-car crash in Lisbon Falls Thursday afternoon, was listed in fair condition at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston on Thursday night, according to a hospital spokesman.

Lisbon Police Sgt. Scott Stewart said Beaulieu, who was driving east on Route 196, was distracted, went off the right side of the highway and slammed head-on into a utility pole.

He was alone in the vehicle.

The force of the impact snapped off the steering wheel, which landed in his lap. Beaulieu suffered facial and chest injuries, Stewart said, and was taken to CMMC.

His 1993 Buick Century was demolished in the 4:21 p.m. accident.
