Desserts and beverages, provided by the Mt. Abram Boosters Club, will be served to all spring athletes and their parents/guardians at 6 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. Presentation of awards will start at 6:30.

After a brief overview of the spring sports season, each team will go to separate rooms for the presentation of individual sports awards.

Poetry reading

FARMINGTON – Poet Baron Wormser will present a reading at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 2, at Devaner Doak & Garrett Booksellers in downtown Farmington. Wormser will present material from two newly released volumes of poetry.

Each poem in Wormser’s sixth collection, “Subject Matter,” is 14 lines. Wormser uses that form to concisely pursue a wide range of topics. “Carthage” is a new collection of 14 poems about a president of the United States named Carthage, each showing a different aspect of his life and times, and exploring the inner workings of a mind that remains somehow inaccessible, even to itself.

In 2000 Wormser was appointed poet laureate of Maine. He lives with his wife in Hallowell.

WILTON – CareerCenter will have a breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Friday, June 3, at 865 Route 2.

Community events updates will include the Fourth of July celebration, Wilton Blueberry Festival and Memorial Wall. Alison Hagerstrom will report on the Pine Tree project and Franklin County economic development projects. Alan Grove will be the speaker.
