Poetry reading

FARMINGTON – Poet Baron Wormser will present a reading at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 2, at Devaner Doak & Garrett Booksellers in downtown Farmington. Wormser will present material from two newly released volumes of poetry.

Each poem in Wormser’s sixth collection, “Subject Matter,” is 14 lines. Wormser uses that form to concisely pursue a wide range of topics. “Carthage” is a new collection of 14 poems about a president of the United States named Carthage, each showing a different aspect of his life and times, and exploring the inner workings of a mind that remains somehow inaccessible, even to itself.

In 2000 Wormser was appointed poet laureate of Maine. He lives with his wife in Hallowell.
