AUBURN – A Lewiston woman remained at the Central Maine Medical Center Sunday after sustaining serious injuries after crashing into an utility police Saturday night.

Jamie A. Mockler, 36, of 5 Lafayette St., Lewiston, was in stable condition after breaking several ribs and her collarbone, hospital and police officials said.

“She was in a lot of pain,” said Auburn Police Dept. Lt. Gary Boulet. “She was by herself, which was lucky because if there was a passenger, that person would have died. The car was wrapped right around the pole on the passenger’s side. She was lucky.”

The crash happened at 10:31 p.m. as Mockler was driving her 2000 Ford sedan south on Main Street in Auburn. While rounding a curve Mockler lost control and skidded 125 feet into a Central Maine Power pole. The vehicle moved the pole several inches, police said.

Mockler was not wearing her seat belt. She was taken to Central Maine Medical Center. She was charged with operating under the influence, police said.
