DIXFIELD – The seventh annual Dirigo/Dixfield Alumni and Newpage Corp. Academic Honors Banquet was held on May 15 at Dirigo High School’s Student Community Center.

Thirty-two grades nine through 12 students, accompanied by their parents, were honored for achieving honors, high honors and Student of the Month selection for the 2004-05 school year.

Ken Labrecque, music director at Dirigo High School, provided dinner music. He also played a guitar instrumental following dinner.

Special guest speaker was Dr. Zark VanZandt, dean at the University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn College. Vanzandt’s message focused on the 10 steps of being a successful high school and college student and employee.

First-time academic honor recipients were given an academic letter and certificate. Upperclassmen who repeated as honor recipients received an academic pin and certificate.

The dinner, drinks and dessert were provided by SAD 21 Food Services Director Marge Kennedy, assisted by Melanie Felt. Wait staff members who assisted in serving were Dirigo High School students Wes Gagne, Katie Hutchinson, Mirah Freeman, Kerri Welch, Lenny Hall and Chris Richards.
