FARMINGTON – The New Hope Baptist Church, 268 Perham St., will celebrate its 25th anniversary on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 3, 4 and 5, with the theme “To God be with Glory.”

Weekend events will include activities for the church family and friends on Saturday, special preacher Mark Markham on Sunday morning, and a musical drama, “The Innocent for the Guilty,” at 7 p.m. all three nights.

Written by local playwright and composer Sandi Rebert, the story, set in the Old West, follows a young man, portrayed by Kirk Doyle, who faces accusations that could cost him his life; a town busybody, played by Steve Kinney; and a host of other characters, played by Buzz and Theresa Bridges, Brian and Sandi Rebert, Cristina Navarro, Stephanie Millay, Max and Kim Yates, Tom Charles, Chris Phillips, Steven Decker Jr., Rebekah Rebert, Isaac Wildrick, JoAnne Doyle, George and Diane Weeks, Charlotte Randall and Ken Decker.

The choir, whose members also act as townspeople, is directed by Kirk Doyle and includes JoAnne Doyle, Brian, Sandi and Rebekah Rebert, Charlotte Randall, Buzz, Theresa, Shyla and Ashley Bridges, Denika Decker, Stephanie Millay, Kim Yates, Katie and Kayla York, Julianna Navarro, Stephen Decker Jr., Tom and Linda Charles and Diane Weeks.

A western town has been created by Chris Phillips with the help of Marvin Burnham, Max Yates and many others. Ben Scott is on sound; Jon Rebert, lights; Sue Jones, stage manager/prompter; and Harold Fields and Rebekah Rebert, filming.

A children’s choir, under the direction of JoAnne Doyle, will present three “western style” songs prior to the play. Written by Ron Hamilton, they include “Tell the Truth,” “Cool, Clear Water” and “Harmony at Home.”

Those involved in the children’s choir are Lydia and Haven Doyle, Jessie, Seth and Erin Johnson, Ben, Rebekah and Matthew Scott, Jonathan Rebert, Seth Collins, Marissa, Kierra and Madison Yates, Colby Thayer, Cherish, Joshua and Caleb Bridges, Isabella and Cristina Navarro, Destiny Decker, Alea Wildrick and Jared and Janna Winslow.

The church has grown from 17 people meeting in the West Farmington Grange Hall on June 1, 1980, to the present location. Former members have gone on to become missionaries, pastors and Christian school administrators, while others are serving in local churches all over the United States.
