MALDEN, Mass. (AP) – A Malden man was arraigned Tuesday on charges he tried to hire someone to attack his pregnant girlfriend, prosecutors said.

Tyrone Walker, 26, allegedly intended for his girlfriend, who is several months pregnant with his child, to lose the fetus. He offered cocaine and cash to someone in exchange for the attack, according to a spokeswoman for Middlesex District Attorney Martha Coakley.

Earlier this month, a confidential informant warned a federal agent about the alleged plot, prosecutors said. The agent relayed the information to State Police, who arrested Walker last Friday in Malden.

Walker pleaded innocent to charges of criminal solicitation and conspiracy at his arraignment Tuesday. A Malden District Court judge ordered him held on $200,000 cash bail pending a June 28 court date.
