AUBURN – Due to inclement weather, the Boys and Girls Club of Auburn/Lewiston has rescheduled its 11th annual Golf Classic Tournament for Monday, June 13, at the Poland Spring Country Club.

The event will kick off at noon with a chicken barbecue luncheon, followed by golf on the 18-hole championship Donald Ross course. The afternoon will wrap up with a social hour and hot hors d’oeuvres at the clubhouse. The tournament will also feature several hole-in-one prizes including a Dell computer system, a set of Ben Hogan irons and a chance to win $10,000 cash.

Each spring since 1994, Boys and Girls Club of Auburn/Lewiston has hosted this event for area golfers, which raises awareness and significant budget-relieving dollars for the club.

Net proceeds are directed toward programming and services for the club’s 500 members, many of whom come from disadvantaged circumstances. Sponsorship levels for the tournament start at $150 for a hole and go up to $5,000 for overall event sponsorship.

A limited number of registrations for foursomes are still available at $370. Individuals are also welcome to play for $95. More information on the tournament may be obtained by calling the Auburn/Lewiston clubhouse at 795-6713, or the club’s administrative offices at 874-1069.

The tournament was to have been held on Wednesday, May 25.

Boys and Girls Clubs of America comprises a national network of more than 2,260 neighborhood-based facilities annually serving over 3 million young people, primarily from disadvantaged circumstances.

Boys and Girls Club of Auburn/Lewiston has served area youth since 1995. Its mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
