AUBURN – Dorothy Wells Annett, 93, passed away at her home in Auburn, on Monday, May 30.

She was born Oct. 20, 1911, in Hamilton, N.Y., to Elsie Maynard Wells and Harold P. Wells. She was married for 64 years to John B. Annett.

A graduate of Oberlin College, she worked for several years as a laboratory technician. Later, she was a library assistant at Bates College.

Throughout her many years in the L-A area, she was an active member of the Art Club and the Wednesday Morning Club, and she was a former member of the United Baptist Church. She was also a theater enthusiast as a season ticket holder for several community theaters and a board member of the Maine Acting Company.

She was truly a woman ahead of her time. She was intelligent and articulate, and both well-read and well-traveled. She was steadfast in her interest in global and local politics. Friends will remember her as a most remarkable woman, possessing a unique combination of compassion, common sense, tolerance and sharp wit. She also made an incredible pie.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Carol Rorick of Auburn and Patricia Annett of Roxbury, Mass.; her grandchildren, Dorothy Ross of Guilford, Conn., Andrea Bernard of Chelsea, Mass., and Nathaniel Rorick Jr., of Milford, N.H.; and several great-grandchildren.
