NORWAY – The 15th annual Pine Tree Steer and Ox Association pull will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 3, 4 and 5, at the Oxford Fairgrounds. There will be 18 classes of pulling.
The Oxford County Fair booth will be open all weekend and a special bean supper will be held Saturday night for $5. There will be an admission charge of $5 a day; under 18, free. For more information, call Marlene Robinson at 625-3683.
Promotion meet
NORWAY – The Promotions Committee will meet at 9 a.m. Friday, June 3, in the Norway Downtown Revitalization office above Fare Share Market. The agenda will include the Norway Summer Festival promotion, Best Food Forward landscaping contest, ornament sales, business openings and a downtown business directory.
Festival group
NORWAY – The Norway Summer Festival Committee will meet at 1 p.m. Friday, June 3, at the Norway Memorial Library. Volunteer needs, promotion, purchase awards and logistics will be discussed.
Nature trip
OXFORD – The Twin Town Nature Club will meet at 10 a.m. Monday June 6, in the Wal-Mart parking lot (south side near Route 26) and car pool to Gilsland Farm in Falmouth to explore Maine Audubon Society headquarters and nature trails.

Blood drive
PARIS – The Maine Medical Center will sponsor a blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 9, at the South Paris Legion Hall, Church Street, South Paris. All donors will receive an appreciation gift. Make an appointment by contacting Marilyn Ramsay at 743-5723. Walk-ins are welcome. Remember to bring in a photo ID.
Heywood Club
NORWAY – The Heywood Club of Norway will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, June 13, with a potluck supper at the home of Barbara Howard, 21 Rifuma Road. Call 743-7806 for more directions. Car pooling is advised because of parking. Wear comfortable shoes.
Society speaker
NORWAY – The Norway Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, at the Society House, 471 Main St. Larry Glatz will speak about the “Oxford Bears.” Refreshments will follow. Everyone is welcome.
Nominations
OXFORD – The U.S. Department of Agriculture will accept county committee members nominations from June 15 to Aug. 1.
Laura Rand, county executive director for USDA’s Farm Service Agency in Oxford County, announced the USDA will soon begin accepting nominations for eligible candidates to serve on local Farm Service Agency county committees. All nomination forms must be received in the Oxford County FSA Office or postmarked by Aug. 1. Voting will take place between Nov. 4 and Dec. 5.
The County Committee oversees local FSA operations. It makes decisions on commodity price-support payments and eligibility, conservation programs, disaster assistance and other agricultural issues.
