Three local people – Charles Large, Cindy Larock and Jake Sasseville – are among 20 semifinalists in a New England-wide contest aimed at helping a dream charity with a donation of $25,000.

It’s called the “Over the Moon Dream BIG Contest” and is sponsored by milk seller Garelick Farms.

The winner will be decided by votes on the company’s Internet site, www.overthemoonmilk.com.

Large, the executive director of the Good Shepherd Food-Bank in Auburn, would use the money to remodel a used beverage truck into a mobile food pantry.

Larock, who leads the Hey Diddle Diddle Dancers, would use the money to make sure the children’s folk dancing group keeps learning and performing. She lives in Lewiston.

Sasseville, a Lewiston native who is attending college in New York City, wants to create a foundation for children suffering from life-threatening illnesses.

Voting in the contest began Wednesday and continues through June 15. The finalists will be named on Sunday, June 19. A final winner is expected at the end of the month.
