PORTLAND (AP) – Jon Lester pitched five strong innings and his teammates knocked five doubles and a triple as the Portland Sea Dogs trounced the New Britain Rock Cats 10-2 Friday in the Eastern League.

Portland’s offense was led by Brandon Moss, who stroked two doubles, and Kenny Perez, who belted a two-run triple.

The Sea Dogs (27-20) claimed a 3-0 lead in the first inning, sparked by back-to-back doubles by Moss and Jared Sandberg.

After the Rock Cats (20-32) picked up a run in the third, Chris Durbin’s two-run double was the big blow as the Sea Dogs added four in the fourth.

Perez’s triple keyed three Portland runs in the fifth.

The Rock Cats made it 10-2 on Luis Jimenez’s RBI double in the sixth.

Lester (3-1) struck out six, walked one and gave up one unearned run over five innings. New Britain’s Daylan Childress (0-1) gave up seven runs.
