Augusta – The Maine U.S. Small Business Administration District Office is seeking nominations for District Minority Small Business Person of the Year. State winners will compete at the regional level. This year’s Minority Enterprise Development Week activities will take place in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 12 through Sept. 14.

During MED Week, SBA recognizes minority business excellence and achievement by cosponsoring national commemoration activities with the U.S. Department of Commerce’s, Minority Business Development Agency.

Nominations must be received in the Maine District Office by June 8 and criteria for this award include and are not limited to: Nominee must operate and control at lease 51 percent of the business; nominee’s firm must have been in business for at least 3 years; If nominee is a government contractor, it must have performed satisfactorily on all government contracts; nominee’s firm must be in satisfactory financial condition.
