Regarding the issue in Weld concerning a landowner’s request to gate her property, I wonder if the landowner had been from an old, local family and had sent someone on her behalf to speak about the trash being left on her property if townspeople would have been so quick to shoot her down? Does the fact that she is the “L.L. Bean heiress” really have a bearing on this?
How many of us would be unconcerned about having someone construct a make-shift latrine on our property or about finding used toilet paper thrown around?
The people have responded rudely to this reasonable concern, and now they are dealing with the results.
There is a lesson here, and it has nothing to do with who owns the land. The Sun Journal is emphasizing the wrong point.
