WINTHROP – Norma Arlene (Dudley) Maxim, 77, of Lambert Street, died at home on Sunday, June 5, with her family by her bedside.

She was born in Augusta, on Feb. 25, 1928, the daughter of Eben F. and Gertrude (Smith) Dudley, the ninth of 13 children.

She was educated in Augusta area schools and married William P. Maxim of Winthrop on June 29, 1946.

She had been a homemaker all of her life.

Norma was a kidney dialysis patient for more than 21 years at the Lewiston/Auburn Dialysis Center. There she was a positive inspiration for everyone at the unit, whether it was other patients, staff or doctors. Her sense of humor was always a part of every conversation.

Norma was a member of the Winthrop Congregational Church; past master and member of the Winthrop Grange 209 for more than 50 years; member of the Kennebec Pomona 4 and the Maine State Grange, and more than 30 years was a member of the Hillandalers Snowmobile Club, Winthrop.

She enjoyed spending summers with family and friends at their camp on Androscoggin Lake in Wayne.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Bill Maxim; her children, Kenneth Maxim and his wife, Donna, of Edgecomb, Everett Maxim and his wife, Terri, of Mount Vernon, Faye Monti and her husband, Bill, of Ellsworth; grandchildren, Michael Maxim of Edgecomb, Paige and Sarah Maxim of Mount Vernon; step-grandchildren, Brian and Matt Saunders; adopted grandchildren, Bryton, Katy, Emily, Desiray and Nicholas Maxim; sisters, Roberta Woodward of Sidney, Virginia Cloutier of East Winthrop, Beverley Philbrick of Oakland, and Marjorie Ainslie of Augusta; stepbrothers, Raymond Young of Litchfield, Cedric Young, and Fredrick “Teddy” Young, both of Belgrade; a close and special friend, Donald Beaulieu of Auburn; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
