LEWISTON – James L. Stone Sr., 72, of 44 Begin Terrace, Sabattus, died at his home, Wednesday, June 8.

Born in Lewiston, March 17, 1933, a son of David and Cecile Laliberte Stone, he graduated from Edward Little High School with the Class of 1951.

He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the New Auburn VFW. He worked in the shoe industry in the Lewiston/Auburn area as a machinist supervisor.

He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing and playing card games on his computer. He had a fondness for Cadillacs and driving to Lake Auburn.

He is survived by his four children, Sandy Nichols and husband, Jerry, of Sabattus, Dick Stone and wife, Rose, of Greene, Debra Harris and husband, Mike, of Turner, and James Stone Jr., and wife, Sherry, of Rockland, and by Anita Stone of Lewiston, mother of his four children; 13 grandchildren, Michelle Jordan, Jason Jordan, Tasha York, Richard Stone, Angela Mathieu, Scott Mathieu, Amy Stone, Samantha Stone, Laura Stone, Daniel Stone, Darcie Boucher, Chris Nichols and Tim Smith; and three great-grandchildren, Anthony Jordan, Elizabeth York and Alanna Jordan.
