LEWISTON – Artwork by 15 students of local artist Martha Truscott-Boardman is on exhibit at Lewiston-Auburn College in the Hall Gallery through July 1.

Truscott-Boardman’s studio, Artspace, is in the Performing Arts Center in Auburn’s former Great Falls School.

Students whose work is in the exhibit are: Kiah Baxter, Bonny Carney, Mikayla Cloutier, Aurora Deveau, Alyssa Goentzel, Laura Hansen, Tahlia Hope, Gage Jordan, Ged Jorgensen, Terry L. Koliche, Alicia Large, Emily Malone, Erin Malone, Jacob Spellman and Sara Spellman.

Truscott-Boardman holds a B.S. in art education. She focuses on student-centered teaching, encouraging students to develop their individual strengths and abilities. She teaches painting, printmaking, drawing, sculpture and mixed media to all ages, including adults.

“My teaching approach emphasizes introducing works of art from diverse past and present cultures, incorporating elements and principles of design and self-expression of feelings, ideas and life experiences. Allowing students to examine, discuss, appreciate and evaluate works of art (their own and others) inspires them to develop the capacity for visual discrimination and judgment,” she said.

Gallery hours are Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Lewiston-Auburn College is at 51 Westminster St. For more information, people can call curator Robyn Holman, 753-6554.
