WALES – A question on a possible new municipal building and nine vacancies in town offices are among the articles on this year’s warrant that taxpayers will consider at the annual town meeting Saturday.

The town will need to choose a town clerk and a selectman in addition to filling positions on various committees. Taxpayers will fill spots on the school board, Planning Board, budget committee and Board of Appeals.

Lack of state funding for the school system, because of the four-year phase-in of the Essential Programs and Services Funding Act, has left the town responsible for $253,914 of the shortfall. The proposed school budget for the coming fiscal year totals $1,808,387.

Road construction is slated for $110,000 this year, with road maintenance coming in at $193,275.

The meeting will be held at the Wales Central School. Voting begins at 9 a.m.
