There are so many cuts to education being made on state and federal levels that it is staggering. Just where are Republicans taking us? They are cutting or proposing to cut programs that are already underfunded: Head Start, K-12, adult education, vocational education and aid for higher education.

What is the wisdom of giving the wealthiest 1 percent a tax cut when we so desperately need to restore our educational support? Those wealthy people are not reinvesting in our economy but are amassing fortunes for their heirs.

Tax is the dirty word that should be called public investment. What better inheritance is there than a healthy, educated and safe community?
