LEWISTON – Richard W. Simard, 72, of 13 Bradford Street, Lewiston, passed away Friday, June 10, surrounded by his family.

Born in Lewiston on Aug. 16, 1932, he was the son of Treffle and Yvonne Dionne Simard. He was educated in local schools.

He was co-owner of Simard & Sons, a family-owned business founded by his father in 1926. He retired from his business in 1992.

He was also a proud member of the Maine Army National Guard, the 133rd Engineering battalion, Charlie Company.

He was an active member of Holy Family Church, having served on past Parish council, and was a Eucharistic Minister.

He is survived by his wife, Rachelle Grenier, of 50 years; two sons, Danny R. Simard of Arizona, and Michael A. Simard and his fianc, Kimberly Delano, of Auburn; four daughters, Catherine and husband Carl Rodrigue of Arizona, Sandra and husband David Rossignol of Sabattus, Tammy and husband Jeffrey Lever of Arizona, and Lisa and husband Elwin Scott of Lewiston; seven grandchildren, Christa, Chad, Sarah, Katie, Benjamin, Ashley, and Tyler; three great-grandchildren, Amelia, Connor, and Avery; one sister, Therese and husband Carl Seger of Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Leo Simard; and a sister, Anita Ruel.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
