RUMFORD – Gwendolyn V. Kennedy, 79, died peacefully Saturday, June 11, at Rumford Community Home where she had resided for the past 16 months.

She was born March 30, 1926, in Dallas Plantation, the daughter of Sampson and Addie Brackett. She was educated in the Dallas School.

She married Carl M. Kennedy on Feb. 22, 1941.

She was employed at Diamond Match and then Diamond Brands until her retirement. She was a very devoted and hard worker.

She was a member of Rumford Baptist Church. Her main priority in life was her family. She enjoyed spending time with them, crocheting, picnics, cooking, picking berries, going out to eat, and shopping.

She is survived by her children, Glenwood Kennedy and his wife, Carol, of Carver, Mass., Sheila Haley and her husband, Gordon, of Rangley, Byron Kennedy of Mexico, Montell Kennedy and his wife, Marge, of Dixfield, Carroll Kennedy and his wife, Sharon Kennedy, of Mexico; two sisters, Frances Gordon of Fayette, and Flossie Caron of Mechanic Falls; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; two infant children; five sisters; and one grandson.
