LEWISTON – The L and A Veterans Council will host a Flag Day ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, at Veterans Park on Main Street. The rain date is 10 a.m. Saturday, June 18.

The event will begin with opening remarks by Bert Dutil, followed by the national anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance.

The program also includes a disposal of flags ceremony organized by American Legion Post 153 of Auburn. Also scheduled:

• A representative from U.S. Sen. Susan Collins office will award Raymond Jacques with medals he won in World War II.

• Gerry Cain, representing the Women Marines Association, will unveil stone No. 9 with 216 names.

• A U.S. Air Force Junior ROTC cadet from Lewiston High School will unveil the World War I tablet that was found at the Lewiston Public Works garage.
