MONMOUTH – With a pool of six candidates running for selectmen, two went to the head of the class capturing almost half of the cast votes.
C. Douglas Ludewig, 65, and Ronald Moody, 70, are the two new members of the board and will sit in as members tonight.
Ludewig, who received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Maine, is currently a teacher at Monmouth Academy. He served on the board from 2001-2004. One of his main reasons for running, he said, was to “provide the taxpayers with the greatest possible value for their tax dollars while making sure Monmouth’s traditions are maintained.” Ludewig received the majority of the votes, totaling 365.
Former Monmouth Academy Principal Moody, who also received received a master’s degree from the University of Maine, had 312 votes, securing the second selectmen spot.
“I believe the town could be run the same way a family is,” he said. “Oftentimes, in a family, we can’t give everyone what they want, but we can give them what they need.”
