LEWISTON – The Central Maine Christian Academy recently held its closing program for the school year for parents and friends, followed by a graduation ceremony for senior Matthew Cyr.

Held at South Lewiston Baptist Church, the program opened with songs by the preschoolers and kindergartners followed by music from the first- through fourth-graders.

Students from the fifth and sixth grades performed a skit, “Peacemakers.” The chorus concluded that part of the evening with “They Will Know We Are Christians” and “The Victory Chant.”

Staff members and volunteers were recognized for their contributions to the school.

Among them were Cynthia Cormier, Patricia St. Hilaire, Deborah Prescott, Bonnie Garman, Tammy Paquette, Ann Nicholas, Loriann Duperry, Tammy Boutot, Naomi St. Hilaire, Heather Burgess, Michele Hall, Carol Montana, Tom Clark, Michael Nyberg, Cindy Boisse, Ann Goorhuis, Rachie St. Hilaire, Larry Campbell, Deborah Salisbury, MaryEllen Baizley, B.J. Jones, J’aime Varrill, Kevin Fish, Harmony Gagne, Margaret Larlee, Marian Auker, Mary Jane Myer, Rebecca Lewis and Pat Zebley.

Commencement exercises were held for graduating senior, Matthew Cyr, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Cyr of Hebron. Principal Patricia St. Hilaire opened the graduation with the invocation, followed by the chorus performing “Shine, Jesus, Shine.”

The commencement address, “The Journey Forward,” was presented by high school teacher and youth pastor, Michael Nyberg.

It was followed by a slide show of Cyr’s life and a tribute to the graduate, written by fellow high school students.

The diploma was awarded by St. Hilaire, board member David St. Hilaire, and members of the high school staff, Tammy Paquette and Mike Nyberg.

Following the ceremony, relatives and friends joined the graduate and his parents in a receiving line formed in his honor.
