LOVELL – The Western Maine Chapter of the Small Woodland Owners Association of Maine will host a walk-through tour of the Duncan Howlett lot at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 18.

Over the winter and finishing in early spring, a pine harvest was conducted on 100 acres of the more than 300-acre SWOAM land trust lot. The conventional harvest removed approximately 50 percent of the standing timber.

Coffee and doughnuts will be available at 8:30 a.m. at the site located three miles in on the Old Waterford Road, which is across from the Lovell Country Club, Route 5. Signs will be posted. The tour is open to the public.

For more information, contact chapter President Bill Haynes at 583-2963 or [email protected].

New icons

AUGUSTA – Effective immediately, the Maine Department of Transportation has activated new “Road Closure,” “Lane Closure” and “Section Affected” icons on its 511 Travel Information System Web site, www.511Maine.gov.

The new refinements have been included in the All Advisories, Major Delays and Commercial Vehicles tabs on the 511 home page. The new “Road Closure” and “Lane Closure” icons offer users the ability to distinguish situations of a lesser magnitude and make it easier to identify road closures during construction activities and storm events.
