WEST PARIS – Donald L. Herrick, 48, of Mechanic Falls, died unexpectedly in West Paris, Wednesday, June 15.

He was born in Mechanic Falls, on April 14, 1957, the son of Wilmont W. and Georgia A. (Crockett) Herrick Sr. and attended Mechanic Falls and Auburn schools.

After school he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and proudly served his country from 1982 to 1985. Upon leaving the Marines, he went to school to become a trucker, working for various trucking companies in the area, working most recently for Chapman Trucking for eight years.

He was a very friendly and outgoing person who loved to spend time with his family and friends and was always quick to lend a hand to anyone who needed help.

He was a member of the Eagles of Lewiston, snowshoe club, the Le Paste Temps of Lewiston, and had been a volunteer firefighter with Mechanic Falls Fire Department. Donald was an avid fisherman and hunter.

Donald is survived by his wife, Carol, of Lewiston; one son, Christopher of Lewiston; stepdaughter, Marcy Tierney of Lewiston; his mother, Georgia Herrick of Mechanic Falls; eight brothers, Wilmont Herrick Jr. and his wife, Ruth, of Mechanic Falls, Chester Herrick and his wife, Thirza, of West Bethel, Albert Herrick of Locke Mills, Charles Herrick and his wife, Peggy, of Oxford, Ronald and his wife, Debbie, of Oxford, David and his wife, Wendy, of Otisfield, Wayne Herrick of Augusta, and Thomas Herrick of Mechanic Falls; three sisters, Jeannett Kimball of Florida, Janice Biardi and her husband, Roy, of Mechanic Falls, and Patricia Springer and her husband, Robert, of West Paris; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Wilmont Herrick Sr., in 1985, and a brother, Robert Herrick.
