ANTIOCH, Calif. – James E. “Eddie” Wing, 75, of Antioch, Calif., passed away Saturday, June 11, after a short illness, with his family by his side.

He was born in Portland on Feb. 8, 1930. After his schooling in New Gloucester, he enlisted in the Air Force, where he received his high school diploma.

After serving his tour of duty, he moved to Antioch, Calif., where he met his first wife, Paula Davis. They had one daughter.

Eddie worked for Dupont Chemical for 30 years. After his retirement, he worked for Lone Tree Golf Course for two years, leaving to care for his wife, Sharon.

Eddie loved music, hunting, fishing and was an avid bowler. He loved calling his mother and the rest of his family in Maine. He will be missed by all, as he was a very loving person and loved to help all those who needed help.

He leaves his loving wife of California; a daughter; his mother of Hampden; two granddaughters of California; two stepsons; and a granddaughter; four brothers, George of New Gloucester, Raymond of The Forks, Alton of Auburn and Kenneth Merrill of Greene; five sisters, Ellen and Margaret Searles of New Gloucester, June Dimock of Springville, Utah, Florence Field of Hampden, Shirley Jordan of Leeds; and a sister-in-law, Sandra Wing of Kittery.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Paula; his father of New Gloucester; three brothers, Roy of Lewiston, Richard of Kittery, and Forrest of New Gloucester; and a sister-in-law, Thelma of New Gloucester.
