MEXICO – G. Beryl “Birdie” Ouellette, 81, of 181 Highland Terrace, passed away Saturday evening, June 11, at Rumford Community Hospital.

Born in Mexico, Oct. 13, 1923, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Valeria Holt Bordeau.

She was a 1940 graduate of Mexico High School.

She married Arthur E. “Smokey” Ouellette on April 4, 1941, who predeceased her.

She loved working outside in her garden and raspberry patch. She was an avid painter and sculptress, and was co-founder of Tributary Arts Council and a member of RAAPA. She loved to sing and write poetry. She was loved by one and all, and especially by her grandchildren. Gram was a real gem. We loved her and will miss her beyond words, but we all know she is at peace and having a grand time in heaven.

She is survived by a daughter, Skeets and husband, Sam London, of Gilbert, Ariz.; a son, Byron and wife, Rhonda Ouellette, of Mexico; five grandchildren, Chris London of California, Debbie and husband, Steve Riley, of Connecticut, Sherri and husband, Rich Gilks, of Sabattus, Kevin Ouellette and fiance, Tanya Gowel, of Lewiston, and Cory Ouellette of California; eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Irene Casper of Florida, Laura and husband, Homer Newall, of Dixfield, and Hemet, Calif.; and one brother, Arthur and wife, Jan Bordeau, of Mexico.

She was predeceased by her parents; three sisters, Muriel L’Heureux, Lorna Blackhurst, Althea “Diddy” Shurtleff; and a brother, Gene C. Bordeau.
