STONINGTON, Conn. (AP) – State and local dive teams combed the waters off Stonington Monday to search for a missing scuba diver.

The diver, a 42-year-old woman, had been diving off a boat anchored near Ram Island at the mouth of the Mystic River, police said. She was last seen about noon.

A state police helicopter also joined the search.

“There are strong currents. It’s quite an area to search,” Police Lt. Darren Stewart said.
