GOFFSTOWN, N.H. (AP) -A St. Anselm College student charged in BB gun shootings of several skateboarders on campus has cut a deal with prosecutors that will keep him out of jail, as long as he cooperates in the case.

James Malone, 22, of Leominster, Mass., was charged with helping another student, and football teammate, get rid of the gun. A jail sentence and a $2,000 fine were suspended for two years on the condition that Malone stay out of trouble. He also was ordered to serve 50 hours of community service and write letters of apology to the skateboarders.

A prosecutor said a key part of the deal is that Malone cooperate in the prosecution of teammate Derek DiMartino, who is charged with shooting three teen skateboarders from a dorm window in April. They were not hurt.
