TURNER – Spice up summer with classes sponsored by SAD 52 River Valley Adult and Community Education. Classes that begin July 6 through 13 include the following:

General Biology with Lab: Students will study the cellular process, organismal biology, genetics, ecology and the environment. The instructor has scheduled a lab as part of the class as well as video presentation. It is appropriate for high school students and individuals who want to apply to college.

Evening Math: The class is geared for high school students who did passed high school math during the academic school year. Basic math, algebra I and II and geometry will be covered. Upon successful completion, students will receive one high school credit.

Combo Math: The class will be held during the morning and offers the same studies as the evening course.

U.S. History, World Studies, Government: It is a fast-paced intensive class. Students must be able to work well in a group. Hands-on work and projects are a major part of the course. Students must commit to attend each day to earn credit. Upon successful completion, they will receive one high school credit.

From the Ground Up: A Variety of Model Building Opportunities: The class is for those new to model building or have a project in the works and need help. The workshop series will provide the hobbiest with space, material and guidance. Those making model planes, weather and time permitting, will fly the planes.

Beginner Dog Obedience: The six-week class will correct behavior problems. Leashes and collars need to be approved by the trainer or they may be purchased at the class. Rabies shots must be current.

Driver Education: Students must be at least 15 on the first day of class, which will consist of 30 hours of classroom instruction and 10 hours of driving. Students need to bring their original birth certificate and Social Security card to the first class along with paper and pen.

Beginning Computer: It is an opportunity to learn basic computer skills using Windows 98 and XP. Instructions will be on how to access programs such as Microsoft Office, word processing and the Internet.

Intro to Fly Tying: Participants will learn to tie basic pattern types and build designs during the six weeks. Entomology-zoology will be covered.

Decorated Jute Rope: Turn a piece of natural jute rope into a rustic hanging. Threaded onto the jute will be beads, bells, cloth-covered foam balls and wooden spools. Each one is different.

SAD 52 River Valley Adult and Community Education announces that the weight room at Leavitt Area High School will be open from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from July 6 through Aug. 26 for people interested in a regular exercise program.

There are a number of machines to use and the room is monitored by facilitator Fernando Beaucage. Registration fee is $25.
