WATERFORD – The Waterford Library will hold its annual book sale on Monday, July 4, as part of the Waterford Village Independence Day celebration. The sale will be held at the library lawn from 8 a.m. to noon and will include a large selection of hardcover books for $2, trade and mass market paperbacks for $1 each and children’s books for $2 or $1.

The library will be open during the hours of the book sale. It is located on routes 35/37 in Waterford Flat near the old town hall on Keoka Lake.

Blood drive

OXFORD – An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 7, at American Legion Post 112, Route 121. It will be Bring a Buddy Day. For more information, call the Red Cross at 1-800-482-0743.

Chalk art show

RUMFORD – Lem Cissel, owner of the Scrappers Domaine and the Pennacook Art Center, announces the second annual Sidewalk Chalk Art Show on Congress Street. Last year there were eight participants.

There will be winners in first, second and third places. The first-place winner will receive a $100 cash prize; second, $50; third, $25. The theme will be “Freedom and Independence.”

Contestants should meet with Cissel at the art center on Congress Street at 10 a.m. Monday, July 4. For more information, call 364-9972 or 364-3599.
