BUCKFIELD – Leroy C. Staples, 60, died Wednesday, June 22, with his family by his side, at his home, 134 Hebron Road, following a long illness.
He was born Feb. 6, 1945, the son of Clarence and Ruth (James) Staples. He was educated in Jay schools.
He worked outdoors throughout his life at Atlas Roofing, Precast Concrete and Superior Concrete. His favorite pastime was hunting, fishing, camping and hanging out with the good ole’ boys.
He married Laura Turcotte on June 18, 1966. For years, Saturday night was family and friends poker night. Sunday was family day and NASCAR races.
Surviving are Laura of Buckfield; daughters, Katherine Zadakis and husband, John, of Auburn, and Karen Oliver and husband, Bruce, of South Paris; son, Kurt Staples and fiance, Sally Vance, and her children, Devon and Kaylie, all of Norway; grandchildren, Kristen Packard, Zachary Zadakis, Brandon Oliver, Bailey Oliver, Michelle Staples and Jennifer Staples; and siblings, Roberta Chandler of New Hampshire, Joan Esty of Lewiston, Gary Staples of Farmington, Betty Henderson of Livermore Falls, Lorna Burnham of Strong, Deborah Goding of Lewiston and Randy Staples of North Jay.
He was predeceased by his parents; and sister, Priscilla Hutchinson.
