WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) – In the five years since Molly Bish disappeared from her lifeguard post at a pond in Warren, police have fielded more than 7,000 leads, but have not made an arrest connected to her abduction or death.

Worcester District Attorney John Conte issued a statement Thursday saying that in addition to the tips, more than 250 witnesses have testified before a special grand jury investigating the case. He said the panel has examined about 70 pieces of evidence since it was convened in May 2004, but would not disclose any details.

“The work of the grand jury will continue in conjunction with several investigative initiatives,” Conte said.

Bish was 16 when she vanished June 27, 2000, as she was preparing for her morning lifeguard duty.

Police found some of her remains and a torn bathing suit two years ago in a heavily wooded area in Palmer, a few miles from her lifeguard station.
