JAY – There will be a series of clinics in Jay for anyone interested in becoming a certified field hockey official. The clinics will be held Tuesdays starting July 5 and continuing on July 12, 19 and 26. They will be held in conjunction with summer games played at Jay High School from 2:00 p.m. until 6 p.m, and will include both rules sessions and on-field practice. It is not mandatory to be there for the entire day. The clinics are free; however participants are encouraged to purchase the 2005 Rules Books, which are available at the clinics, for $7.50. Prospective new officials will also be required to attend a rules interpretation session at Husson College on Wednesday evening, August 3; pass a written exam in mid-August; and be rated on-field August 20. For further information, contact Pam Newton at 562-7771, or Deb Mooney at 562-7285.
