PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Rose Scolnik Goldman died at her home in Philadelphia, on June 20.

She was born in Lewiston in 1911. Educated in Lewiston public schools, she attended Bates College, Emerson College of Expression and Aveenie Drama School.

She returned to Lewiston, and established a highly regarded school of expression and elocution that included corrective training for students with speech impediments. Her annual recitals at Odd Fellows Hall on Park Street in the 1930s, that included the performance of one-act plays, were always favorably reviewed.

She was married just prior to World War II to Attorney Arnold H. Goldman. After the war, she and her husband resided in Washington, D.C., for several years after which they moved to Philadelphia.

She is survived by a daughter, Pamela Weltman and her husband, Dr. Richard Weltman, of Hartford, Conn.; a sister, Ida Kaneff of Philadelphia, Pa.; a brother, retired Justice Louis Scolnik and his wife, Paula, of Lewiston; a grandson, Bradley Weltman and his wife, Debra; and a granddaughter, Attorney Jessica Weltman, the latter three of whom are in New York City.

She was predeceased by her husband.
