LEWISTON – Mr. Bernard’s School of Hair Fashions Inc. held its annual banquet on May 20 for students and alumnae at the Ramada Inn.

Kim Masse of Lewiston received the first annual Dale Smith Scholarship dedicated to the memory of Dale Smith, a student who died unexpectedly in March 2005. Nasra Sulub also received a presentation from the Smith family

Awards were presented to the following student competitors: bridal fashion, Jennifer Kritzer, first, and Linda Kimball, second; braiding, Christy Dobbs, first, and Nasra Sulub, second; nail art, Tammy McKeen, first, and Amy Packard, second; avant-garde, Jennifer Kritzer, first, and Tammy McKeen, second.

Judges for the competition were salon owners Paul Bonsaint of Brunswick, Janelle Goff of Windham, Glennice Green of Turner and Larry Mooar of Portland.

“Graduates, stylists and salon owners are welcome to attend the annual event, and tickets go on sale in March of each year,” said Lorraine Fillinger Gadway, school director.
