Why are the Auburn taxes going up?

Our government tells us that we must bring business into our city for jobs to help pay taxes to make things better!

With all that has come to Auburn, the citizens are going down the drain with increased taxes. I heard that our city officials are trying to get rid of the seniors and rejuvenate the city. Well, the officials will really reach their goals.

The businesses are coming in and, I guess, not paying their fair share of taxes. Otherwise, we, as seniors, would not have to sell our homes because of higher taxes. At least Lewiston, with its new industry, has been able to lower the local citizens’ property taxes. Three cheers for Lewiston!

We do not want to sell but we may have to because we cannot reach the amount of taxes asked of us. We sell the house and have to take an apartment and use up the money from our home to live.

Our monthly income and any savings we have now would not last more than a year. This is the “thank you” we get for maintaining our homes so that Auburn can be a very nice city to live in.

So, raise our taxes and let the people move out, especially the elderly. We did our part in maintaining our properties, now you are taking away our profit for all our hard work and monies spent doing so.
