As a resident of Lewiston, I can certainly see the safety of all residents here doesn’t matter to city officials. There are several sidewalks in the city that are not handicapped accessible. There are several sidewalks that cannot be walked on safely. Someone is going to get hurt on the city sidewalks or on a city street through the negligence of the city.
Lewiston continues to buy properties that it doesn’t need- a total waste of taxpayers’ money.
The city continues to build parking garages that will never get anywhere near their intended use – another example of unnecessary spending.
I believe the city needs to get a new finance director, a new city manager and a new planning director. Find people to fill those offices who care about the residents, instead of people who like to spend unnecessary taxpayer dollars.
City officials should stop the unnecessary spending immediately and tend to business; be professional about it, instead of childish. And get rid of the unnecessary cobblestones down Lisbon Street as well; get it back to two lanes of traffic as it was intended to be. Get parking back to the way it used to be.
If that is done, it might bring life back to downtown.
