DETROIT – Mark Buehrle outdueled Nate Robertson to win his ninth straight decision, and Jermaine Dye hit a tiebreaking home run to lead the Chicago White Sox over the Detroit Tigers 2-1 Tuesday night.

Buehrle (10-1) allowed one run and eight hits in 6 2-3 innings, struck out six and walked none, lowering his ERA to 2.42.

Buehrle got his final out by picking Nook Logan off first with one out in the seventh following a single, Cliff Politte got four straight outs, and Dustin Hermanson escaped a ninth-inning jam for his 18th save in 19 chances. After Ivan Rodriguez’s leadoff triple, Dmitri Young fouled out, and Craig Monroe and Chris Shelton grounded out.

Chicago, which leads the AL Central, broke a two-game losing streak and improved to a major league-best 51-24.

Robertson (3-6) allowed two runs and six hits in seven innings, struck out nine and walked two.

Dye’s 16th home run broke a 1-1 tie in the sixth, a drive to left-center.

Detroit took a 1-0 lead in the second on Shelton’s RBI single through a drawn-in infield after Monroe singled with one out, stole second and took third when catcher Chris Widger’s throw sailed into center. Buehrle had not allowed a run in his previous 27 innings.

Chicago tied the score at 1 in the fifth on Juan Uribe’s triple and Scott Podsednik’s sacrifice fly.

The White Sox stranded two runners in the fourth when Joe Crede fouled out and the fifth when Paul Konerko was called out on strikes.

Detroit had two on with one outs in the first, but Rondell White popped out and Rodriguez flied out.
