RUMFORD – Elaine R. Desgrosseilliers, 66, of Mexico, died on Tuesday, June 28. The angels came to take her home as she lay surrounded by her family and childhood friend Liz Curtis. She was a wonderful mother, and loving sister and friend to all who knew her well.
She was born on Dec. 27, 1938, the daughter of Ludger Turmenne and Mary Bressette. She was raised in Auburn and graduated from Edward Little High School in Auburn, Class of 1957.
She married Roger Desgrosseilliers in 1961. They started Auburn Sheet Metal Co., with her serving in the capacity of president.
They later moved their company to Rumford. While living in their adopted town of Rumford, she became active in the Rumford Rotary Club and a member of the original Growth Council of Rumford.
She was a very social and giving person to all of her friends. She enjoyed going to Foxwoods and Atlantic City. On any given day, you could find her at DiConzo’s Restorante playing cards with her dear friends. She so cherished her last trip to Arizona with her sister, Joyce, experiencing new things and sights to add to her memories within a closeness of family.
She is survived by her son, Robert P. Desgrosseilliers; daughter-in-law, Bertha Veilleux; granddaughter, Brittany and grandson, Brad, all of Rumford; a sister, Joyce and husband, Peter Calden, of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother, Richard and wife, Lynne Turmenne, of Calais; three nieces; one nephew; and a very dear friend, James Saunders of Rumford.
She received excellent care at the Rumford Hospital. Her family greatly appreciated the thoughtfulness and caring attitude of the medical/surgical nursing staff and Dr. Benton.
