LEWISTON – Lucille M. Riffert returned to the hands of God and the comfort of her husband, Warren Riffert, who predeceased her by many years, on Tuesday, June 28. She died peacefully and with dignity, surrounded by her loving family and the attentive staff at Central Maine Medical Center.

She was born on April 15, 1915. She was a Lewiston resident her entire life, and would frequently regale her children and grandchildren with the way life and times had changed in the city over the years.

She lived a long and fruitful life, working for several Lewiston and Auburn businesses while raising her children as a single mom. She epitomized the qualities of the strong-willed, independent and liberated woman long before it became a national movement.

She was a member of the St. Joseph’s Parish, Lewiston Senior Citizens and Horizon 55.

As she leaves for green pastures and quiet waters, she will be dearly missed by her family, including her brother, Gerard Cloutier of Lewiston; sister, Carmen Beaudry of Chelmsford, Mass.; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Bruce Borland of Sacramento, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law, William and Susan Riffert of Portsmouth, N.H.; her grandchildren, Lydia and Max Riffert, and Kristen Aiken and her husband, Matt; nephews, Peter Beaudry, and Donald and Robert Cloutier; her brother-in-law, Lewis Riffert of Philadelphia, Pa.; and a host of other family, friends and acquaintances.

God speed you to your eternal comfort.
