LEWISTON – Mia S. Poliquin has joined Downeast Financial Group in Lewiston. Downeast Financial Group is a financial planning firm that offers a wide range of financial services to best coordinate tax planning, retirement objectives, investment strategies, risk management and estate planning.
Poliquin is a 1993 graduate of Lewiston High School. After high school she graduated magna cum laude from Plymouth State College with a bachelor’s degree in social work. While at PSC, she received the New Hampshire Association of Social Workers Student of the Year award for 1999 and the President’s Commission on the Status of Women Powerful Outstanding Women’s Advocate award in 2000.
After graduation, she worked for the college as a sexual assault and domestic violence counselor and educator. More recently, she obtained her law degree from Franklin Pierce Law Center where she served as co-chair of the Public Interest Coalition and Chief Note Editor of the Pierce Law Review. During law school she worked for the N.H. Attorney General’s Office and the N.H. Public Defender.
Building on her experience and understanding of women’s issues and related social policy such as the Social Security system, Poliquin plans to specialize in the retirement needs of single, divorced or widowed women. However, she will gladly assist any individual with their financial planning needs. She resides in Auburn with her fianc, James F. Pross, Esq.
