ORONO – Former University of Maine baseball standout Greg Creek signed with the Atlanta Braves organization on Thursday.
Creek will report to the Disney Complex in Orlando, Fla., and will play for the Braves in the Gulf Coast League.
Creek led Maine to two America East Championships and two NCAA Tournament appearances in his four years.
He led the Black Bears with nine home runs with a .354 batting average and a .603 slugging percentage.
He finished second in the America East in slugging percentage and tied for third in home runs. He scored 50 runs, hit 16 doubles and drove in 33 runs.
On the mound, Creek went 2-2 with a 4.00 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 27 innings pitched.
Creek finished his career at Maine with a .354 battings average, 107 runs scored, 37 doubles, 17 homes runs and 96 RBIs.
He finished 12-3 on the mound with 88 strikeouts.
