PORTLAND – The band Wakefield is playing a concert at The Station today. Doors open at 6 p.m. The Station is at 272 St. John St. in the Union Station Plaza.
Formed in 2000 when they were just out of high school, the four members of Wakefield decided to give themselves a year to get a record deal.
A year and a week later, they signed a contract although, for various reasons, it took another two years before their debut CD, “American Made,” was released.
This year, they released “Which Side Are You On?”
Starting off as a pop punk band, Wakefield’s sound has changed.
Its original pop punk sound is still evident, but now is infused with vocal harmonies, samples and elements of hip-hop as well as metal.
Currently, Wakefield is on the road supporting its first single “C’mon Baby,” which is receiving airplay on Portland’s WCYY.
Opening the show is Adam Richman, a one-man band from Allentown, Pa. Richman has been writing, playing and recording since he was 12, and has been touring the country and playing at college campuses for the past two years. His debut release is called “Patience and Science.”
Also on the show are local Maine bands U-Turn, Milla Rain and Local Nothing.
This is an all-ages event.
Tickets, $10, are available at Bull Moose Music and at Ticketweb.com.
They will be available at the Station box office night of the show only.
