Cape Coral, Fla. – Sumner R. Sturtevant, 72, formerly of Hebron and Bath/Brunswick died suddenly Tuesday, June 28, in Florida.

He was born in Brighton, Mass., on Aug. 1, 1932, a son of Seward and Mildred E. Neier Sturtevant. He was educated at Hebron Academy and received a bachelor of science degree at the University of Maine in Orono.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He worked at Keyes Fiber for several years before moving to the Bath/Brunswick area. He worked at the Bath Iron Works as a manager of Informational Systems, retiring after 25 years.

On Aug. 30, 1975, he married Sharon A. Owens of Bath. They lived in the Bath/Wiscasset area until 1986 when they moved to Portsmouth, N.H.

In 1993, they moved to Cape Coral and he attended Real Estate Appraisal Academy and became a certified appraiser. He and his wife established Sage Appraisal Associates, Inc. in 1994, and was active in the business.

His passion for sports led him to play softball in his earlier years. He loved watching football with his children and playing with his dogs, Buffy and Irene.

He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Sharon A. Sturtevant, of Cape Coral; two sons, Tom and his wife, Jema Sturtevant, of San Diego, Calif, and Scott and his wife, Kathy Sturtevant, of Deerfield, N.H.; two daughters, Laurie and her husband, Tom Aldred, of Brunswick, and Tammy Sturtevant of Naples, Fla.; three grandchildren, Tom and Amanda Sturtevant of San Diego, Calif., and Matthew Sturtevant of New Hampshire; and his mother-in-law, Marguerite Hutchins of Esero, Fla.
